Civil War Union Army Surgeon. He was commissioned as an Assistant Surgeon, United States Regular Army on June 29, 1849. After the outbreak of the Civil War he received a promoted to Major and Surgeon, US Army on August 17, 1861. He was brevetted Lieutenant Colonel, US Regular Army on March 13, 1865 for "faithful and meritorious services during the war", and passed away on active duty in 1877.
