Hanford resident, formerly of Exeter, Jack Holmes Card, 82, passed away January 22, 2002 in Hanford from congestive heart failure.
Jack was the son of Wallace Stuart Card and Elsie L. Holmes. He married Miss Louise Shaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Irvin Shaw, at a ceremony in the Park Place Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, in March 1945. After the ceremony the couple left for a wedding trip to Dallas, Texas.
Jack was a graduate of Exeter High School. He is best remembered for working with Troop 400 Boy Scouts, Welcome Lodge No. 255 Free and Accepted Masons of California. He was a member of the Hanford United Methodist Church by Certificate of Transfer from Tulare on April 1, 1956. He was a member of the Board of Trustees at First United Methodist Church. Jack served in the 601st Tank Destroyer Battalion, United States Army during World War II and served overseas in the African-Italian theater of operations.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Card, his son, Dave Card of Hanford; his daughter, Joan Card Redemer of Bonn, Germany; his sister Janelle Card Snyder; and five grandchildren. He was well loved by all who knew him.
