Mary Kathryn (Burrous) Shelton, 80, of Pueblo, passed away Aug. 2, 2005. Mary K. was born on Sept. 13, 1924, in Genoa, Colo., to the union of William B. "Bill" and Mary Jansen Burrous, who preceded her in death; along with her husband, Lile; sister, Ruth (Kenneth) Kravig; and brother, William H. Burrous. Survived by sons, Donald, Mark (Roberta); sister, Judith (Freddie) Williams of Buffalo, N.Y.; sister-in-law, June Burrous of Couperville, Wash.; brother, Raymond (Eleanor) Burrous of Pueblo; grandchildren, Michael, Tracy and Ginger (Kris); and great-grandchildren, Sydney and Alexandra. Mary attended Genoa, Colo., grade school and graduated from Genoa High School, June 1942. She married Lile Shelton in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Nov. 15, 1942. They resided in Genoa until 1942. Mary was with Lile during his service in the Army Air Force from Dec. 1942 to Jan. 1946, and through numerous stations Mary managed to find jobs wherever they were. They moved to the Pueblo area after Lile's discharge from the Army Air Force in 1946. Mary was employed at Pueblo Army Depot for five years then started a family. Mary also worked for District 70 as a secretary from 1972 until retiring from the district in 1985. Since retirement, Mary and Lile traveled to 49 states of the U.S. and nine provinces of Canada. She was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 145 Ladies Auxiliary of Pueblo. Funeral service, 2 p.m. Friday, Imperial Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Wayne Ward officiating. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens, conducted by Wayne Ward. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Rocky Mountain Chapter, 1157 W. Abriendo Ave., Pueblo, CO, 81004, in her memory. Family will receive friends and relatives at the home of Mark and Roberta.
