He was born April 13, 1930, the fifth child of seven, to Leo and Helen Carrick Marchbanks.
He married Jeannine Manning on January 7, 1950. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a devoted father and husband and was known for the service he gave to others.
Reid was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served in many capacities: Elders Quorum President, Sunday School President, Ward Clerk, and others, but the calling he loved best was that of a Home Teacher. He was known for his hard work and his quick smile. Reid loved and cared for his animals and was kind to a fault. He worked for U.S. Steel, Clover Leaf Dairy, and then finished out his career with Continental Baking Co. with thirty years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years; two sons and a daughter, David (Tana) Marchbanks of West Jordan; Stephen (Jolene) Marchbanks of Orem; Lesa (Carl) Wanders of Lehi; his sister Nona (Dean) Gillman; and two brothers Leon (Inez) Marchbanks and Terry (Lucille) Marchbanks. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Hellen Marchbanks, his sisters Venna Anderson and Shirly Harris, and a brother Alan Marchbanks.
