US Army officer. Booth enlisted for the Spanish-American War in 1898 and served as a Sergeant in Company D, 1st Infantry Regiment, New York Volunteers. He was mustered out in Albany on February 20, 1899. In April, 1901 Booth was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the regular Army. He was a career officer in the Adjutant General's Corps and attained the rank of Colonel. During World War I he served as the Allied Expeditionary Force's Assistant Adjutant General and received the Distinguished Service Medal. Colonel Booth was the father of Lieutenant General Donald P. Booth (1902-1993).
