Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday April 12, 2008 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Elizabeth M. "Liz" Rothstein, age 89, of Paynesville, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 09, 2008 at the Paynesville Area Hospital. Burial will take place in St. Margaret's Parish Cemetery in Lake Henry.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Friday, April 11 at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville. St. Louis Christian Women, St. Rose of Lima Mission Circle and Catholic Aid will pray at 5 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Liz was born November 19, 1918 in Spring Hill, MN to Andrew and Christine (Olmscheid) Bertram. She married Alois Hemmesch on September 12, 1938 in Spring Hill. He passed on March 5, 1973. She married Alfred Rothstein on April 26, 1974 in Lake Henry and they moved to Paynesville. She was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Christian Women and Catholic Aid.
Liz loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed quilting at the Paynesville Area Center, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, and was a volunteer driver for Tri-Cab.
Liz is survived by her husband Alfred of Paynesville, children Alice (Herman) Schaefer of St. Martin, Janet (Donald) Schaefer of Cold Spring, Richard (Mary Ann) Hemmesch of Lake Henry and Donald Hemmesch of Albany, 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, brother and sisters Helen Rose, Walter (Lucille) Bertram, Marcella Lieser and Dorothy Braegelmann and sister-in-law Vivian Bertram.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Alois and brothers Norbert, Peter and Elmer Bertram and one infant brother.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
