Obituary
The deceased, Mrs. G.F. Holmes whose maiden name was Phebe Badger was born to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Badger in Grant County, Indiana, August 7, 1844. Was married to G.F. Holmes at Sheridan, Iowa, Nov. 22, 1863. She came west with her husband and family and located near York, Neb., in 1880.

Mrs. Holmes had gone to care for her daughter, Bessie, of Hunnewell who was ill. After a few days she went to visit her son and family who lives in Braman, Okla. While sitting talking with the family at about 11 o'clock Sunday, March 6, she suddenly fell dead from heart failure. The measure of her earthly existence is 59 years, 6 months and 29 days. It is not known that Mrs. Holmes ever suffered with heart trouble and only a few moments before her death she was remarking of her good health and how well she was feeling.

To Mr. and Mrs. Holmes were born six children, three boys and three girls, all of whom are still living. U. Grant, and Chas. D., Augusta; Walter E., of Braman, Okla.; Mrs. Kalista Frickey, of York, Neb.; and Mrs. Mattie Chance of Augusta and Mrs. Bessie Arnold of Hunnewell, Kansas.

All the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Frickey who is recovering from a severe attack of pneumonia. The deceased was born into Christ at Sheridan, Iowa December 1867, uniting with the Christian church in which faith she lived faithfully and rejoiced until death. She was one of the charter members of the Christian church of Augusta and was much loved by the entire membership.

The funeral services were conducted by Elder G.J. Chapman of the Christian church, in her home west of town, Tuesday p.m., March 8, after which her mortal remains were laid to rest in the Augusta cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. G.F. Holmes were well and favorably known in this vicinity as honest, congenial and law-abiding citizens, both being active members of the Christian church.

The husband, her aged mother, the children and mother near and dear relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of the community in this their deep, sudden and unexpected sorrow. Mrs. Holmes' father died when she was a small child.
