William Harrison Jones was born in the Glenstead area of Morgan County, Missouri, the son of John Lewis and Martha Cole Jones. Besides "Harry" and his twin brother James Sidney Jones there were seven other siblings. In the 1890's the family moved to the Smithton area in Pettis County. On May 12, 1905 Wlliam Harrison married Rosa Anna Meyer. Harry and Rose were the parents of five children, all born at Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri. Harry farmed, operated a dairy for a time and also worked at the MKT RR shops until the general strike in 1922. In 1931 Harry and Rose purchased a farm near Stokley, in northwest Pettis County. Before the check cleared, Citizen's Bank failed and they lost all that money. With family help and perseverance, they paid for the farm a second time. In 1943, they moved back to the Sedalia area when their son joined the Navy in WWII. Harry finally retired in the 1950's. He died in Sedalia Nov. 12, 1967. See Rose Meyer Jones for information on their children. (by Carolyn Heck Thomas)
(Harry's marker shows he was born in 1880 while that of his twin brother shows 1884. Rose always said he got older the longer they were married. Based on census records and the births of their siblings Harry and Sid were born in 1882 or more likely in 1883. A. J. Heck-grandson)
