Ida L. Prunty, 81, of Beaver Falls, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 2, 2008, in the Providence Care Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1927, in Beaver Falls, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Smith, Sr. and Edith Gerlach Smith. She was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Falls and had retired from the former Mayer China Company in 1988 where she had been a glazer. Ida had been a member of The Swingers Line Dancing Group in New Brighton and the Granada Rockettes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Dempsey B. Prunty, on Sept. 16, 2008; three brothers, Robert Smith, Leroy Smith, Jr., and Harold Smith, and a sister, Mildred Greene.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Marie Johnston, Daugherty Township; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryll and Robert Lipan, Snellville, GA, and Diane "Dee" and Larry Rhodes, Daugherty Township; six grandchildren and their spouses, Greg Bieselt, New Brighton; Kendall Bieselt, Pittsburgh; Kara Johnston Smith and her husband Jamie, Patterson Heights; Michael Johnston and his wife Chelsea, Patterson Township; Amber Rhodes Null and her husband Charles, California, PA, and Adrian Rhodes Huber and her husband Jeremy, Cortland, OH; one great-grandson, Alan Michael Johnston, and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean Mellon, Beaver Falls, and Wanda and Tony Surowiec, New Brighton.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 8 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, with her pastor, the Rev. Gregory Clagg officiating.

Private interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.

Her family would like to thank the nurses and the staff on the second floor of the Providence Care Center for all of their support and kindness given to Ida. They would also like to thank all of the staff, especially Dr. Jason A. Rodriguez of Trinity Family Practice for everything that they did for Ida.
