Truman Lee Gehringer, 80, of Columbia died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at the Boone Hospital Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W., with the Rev. Carol Millspaugh officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at the funeral home.

Mr. Gehringer was born Nov. 26, 1922, in Jefferson City to T.C. and Emma E. Ingram Gehringer. He married Susan Hulen on June 6, 1948, in Columbia, and she survives.

He graduated from Hickman High School in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, serving three years in India.

He retired from Macon Savings and Loan Association after 36 years of service. He was employed by the J.C. Penney Co. and Shelter Insurance Cos.

He was a member of the New Horizon United Methodist Church. He was past president of the Macon Rotary Club and past secretary of the Macon School Board.

Survivors also include a son, James Robert Gehringer of Mexico, Mo.; a daughter, Connie E. Gehringer of Columbia; three grandchildren and two step grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the New Horizon United Methodist Church, 1020 El Chaparral Ave. S., Columbia, Mo. 65202.
