GUILDERLAND -- Arthur Emerson Bent, age 89, former Albany native and longtime resident, died at Mercy Life Care Center in Guilderland, N.Y. He was born December 15, 1916 in Albany, N.Y., the son of the late John and Anna Hotaling Bent. Art was an employee of Pacific Molasses Company at the Port of Albany for 25 years prior to his retirement. Art's love of family, as well as his constant smile, never left him.
He is survived by his wife Beryl Mary Bent; beloved father of his two daughters, Stephanie Ann Hedrick and Kimberly Elizabeth Hollis; and two grandchildren, Michael Hedrick and Nicole Hedrick. Also survived by his nephew Harold A. VanApeldoorn of Albany, NY and niece Ruth A. VanApeldoorn Stanchick-Lints of Dover Delaware, several grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews and several cousins. Predeceased by brothers John, and James Bent and his sisters Grace VanApeldoorn and Elizabeth Williams-Sager, nephews Emerson and Robert VanApeldoorn and niece Shirley VanApeldoorn Smith .
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Peter's Hospital and Mercy Life Care Center for their care of Art.
