Mrs. Headley worked as a floral designer, ceramic artist and homemaker in Dahlgren where she was a member of Dahlgren United Methodist Church. She made frequent visits "down home" to Avalon in Northumberland County to spend time with family and friends, later retiring to Warsaw to live with her daughter.
Mrs. Headly was born March 4, 1926 to Alice and Claude Bray. She attended Corinth Methodist Church in Newman's Neck and graduated from Heathsville highschool. She was predeceased by both parents and devoted husband, James Grafton Headley. She was the sole remaining sibling of eight, four sisters, Betty Lou Jones, Patricia Davenport, Jean Davis and Claudette Voight; four brothers, Reginald Bray, Edward "Sonny" Bray, William Bray and Fredrick Bray.
Known affectionately as "MawMaw", she is survived by a daughter, Brenda H. Conley of Warsaw; one granddaughter, Alison G. Conley and son-in-law, George I. McDowell, Jr. of Richmond; two great-grandchildren, Mack and Aleric McDowell of Richmond; a devoted family friend, considered as a son, Harry F. Smith Jr. of Haynesville and an adoring family member, Leeza Lynn Stamer of Richmond. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
