Corp Meek, Company M, 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division was initially listed as Missing in Action, while fighting Chinese Communist forces during the withdrawal of the 2nd Infantry Division from the area of Kunu-ri North Korea on November 26, 1950. On December 31, 1953, his status was changed to presumed Killed in Action Remains Not Recovered. He was awarded the Purple Heart & Combat Infantry Badge. Meek's name was inscribed on the Courts of the Missing.
