Obituary
Ralph Mahaffy Flowers was born in Franklin county, Ohio, January 10, 1851, and died at his home in Osborne, December 3, 1912. In 1855 he moved with his parents to Henry County, Iowa. He was married June 19, 1871, to Miss Carrie Warren. To this union were born three children; Florence May died at the age of 27; Charley died in infancy, and Arch now lives in Loma, Montana. In 1876 he moved with his family to Taylor county, Iowa, where his wife and child died. In 1882 he was married to Ida C. Clifton. To this union were born two children, Clifton Ralph, of Lenora, and Harvey Dale, of Downs.

He was converted at the age of 16 and united with the Methodist Episcopal church and remained a member until death.

He was a lover of peace amongst men and was always on the alert to maintain it. He was an excellent husband and father, always seeking the comfort of others first. He leaves to mourn his loss, a beloved wife and three sons, a sister, Carrie Morrison, of Trenton, Iowa; a brother, Angus, of Oklahoma, and ten grandchildren, and a host of friends.

The funeral of Sheriff Flowers will be held from the Methodist Church in this city at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning, with interment in Corinth cemetery, east of town.

In the death of Sheriff Flowers, Osborn county loses one of its most capable officials.

Mr. Flowers was a farmer of Corinth township when he decided to run for sheriff in 1910. He had no opposition in the primaries, and was elected by a good majority in the election. This year he again had no opposition in his own party, and the election gave him another term of two years, which he has not lived to fill, much to the regret and grief of his host of friends in this city and county. Under-Sheriff Mills will, according to law, fill out the remainder of this term, which ends in January, after which the governor will appoint a sheriff for the two-year term to which Mr. Flowers was elected.
