Enlisted from Redding, Aug. 16, 1862, carriage-trimmer, age 28. Mustered in as Sergeant. Promoted to 1st Sergeant Nov. 17, 1862; to 2nd Lt. June 4, 1863. Captured July 1, 1863, Gettysburg, Pa. Paroled Aug. 25, 1863. Discharged May 15, 1865. Also participated in the Battle of Chancellorsville.
