He was born on Aug. 28, 1932, in Luray and was a son of the late John Clifton and Julia Pearl Sours Ellis.
On June 28, 1952, he married the former Ida Florence Good, who died on Sept. 8, 2002.
He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Huffman and Frances Emswiler, both of Shenandoah; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Clifton Ray "Moon," Charles Lynwood, Bobby Winfred and Leo F. Ellis; and a sister, Mildred Frances Dean.
A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, May 28, at the Twin Valley Pentecostal Church by the Rev. Peggy G. Corbin. Burial was in the Leake's Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
