Sophia was the daughter of Henry C. and Mary M. Reichhold, and one of 12-children. Henry was born in Pennsylvania, but his parents were born in Germany; Mary was born in Germany.

She married Frank L. Gass on Wednesday, 17 November 1909, in Wildwood by S. H. Mollenauer, pastor of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Frank was 25-years old, a farmer and currently lived in Wildwood. Sophia said that she too was born in Wildwood. She was 28 and currently lived in Gibsonia.

Sophia and her husband could not be found in the 1910 Census.

The 1930 Census showed the couple had adopted a daughter by the name of Mary, a.k.a. Mariann, who was 7-years old. The family lived in McCandless Township, Allegheny County. Sophia's brother George and his family lived nearby.

Sophia's death notice was in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette of 16 November 1949 on Page 22.

GASS—Monday, Nov. 14, 1949, Sophia M. Reichhold, wife of Frank L. Gass of Gass Rd., McCandless Twp.; mother of Mrs. Mary Jakiel, sister of Mrs. Olive M. Kinney, Mrs. Margaret Cayton, Mrs. Elva Rinaman, Fred, Harry, Sidney, George and Edward Reichhold. Friends received at the Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Perrysville. Services on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
