Long time Yuma resident Evelyn Barnett Flynn died Wednesday December 26, 2007 in Yuma. She was born on June 4, 1920 in Bluff City, Tennessee the daughter of Mary Harkleroad and John Barnett.
She was predeceased in 1997 by her husband Eugene Flynn. She is survived by one brother J.C. Barnett of Johnson City, Tennessee; daughters Mary (Barry) Barkan of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marna (Bruce) Williams of Roll, Arizona and Teresa (David) Harrington of Yuma; grandchildren Lisa Williams, Brent (Bess) Williams, Margo (Athon) Morrison, Amanda (Jason) Beck, Sarah Montoya all of Yuma and Seth Barkan of Las Vegas, Nevada; great-grandchildren Kellen Williams, Hayden Beck and Cooper Morrison all of Yuma and many nieces, nephews and friends.
For over 25 years Evelyn was a much loved kindergarten teacher at St. Francis Catholic School. Numerous Yuma residents remember the kindergarten graduation ceremonies orchestrated by her. Once retired she began a new career as a waitress at the Old Trails Steak House and then for over 25 years at Jack and Rosie's. A devoted mother and doting grandmother and greatgrandmother she will be missed by all who had the joy of knowing and loving her.
The Rosary will be at Johnson Mortuary at 6 p.m. on January 2, 2008. Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on January 3, 2008 at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. John Neumann Church Building Fund, 11750 South Mesa Drive, Yuma, AZ 85367 or The AlzheimerÕs Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
