Army vet; retired accountant; avid golfer, bowler

Calvin H. Deininger, 85, of Media, an Army veteran, died Feb. 25 at Riddle Memorial Hospital.

Born in Reading, he resided in Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, before moving to Media with his family.

Mr. Deininger graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1942. He served in the Army from 1943-1946 and spent time in Europe. He was a longtime member of the American Legion.

Mr. Deininger was a certified public accountant and a retired partner of KPMG and past president of the National Association of Accountants.

Mr. Deininger enjoyed golf, bowling and watching football and baseball games, especially the Eagles and Phillies. He enjoyed playing pinochle with family and friends.

Mr. Deininger was a devoted family man and participated in many family activities. He was a longtime active member of Reformation Lutheran Church, where he served on the finance committee and had 20 years of service on the endowment committee.

Mr. Deininger was the son of the late Calvin H. and Mabel M. Smith Deininger.

He was the brother of the late Edward and Guy Deininger, and father of the late Gail C. Myers.

Survivors: Wife of 61 years, Marjorie C. Heim Deininger of Media; daughter, Marjorie J. Kobasa of Springfield; son, Calvin H. Deininger Jr. of Wallingford; sister, Ruth Yoder of West Reading; nine grandchildren; great-grandchild.

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reformation Lutheran Church, 102 W. Rose Tree Road, Media,

Visitation: 9:30-10:45 a.m. Tuesday in the church.

Burial: Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer.
