Savilla Westbrook, age 91, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in Monticello, Florida. Beggs Funeral Home of Monticello (850-997-5612) will be handling arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held in Monticello at a later date. Mrs. Westbrook was a native of Williston, Fla., and lived in Boynton Beach, Fla., before moving to Monticello in 1992. Mrs. Westbrook was a very active lady; she was a member of the Eastern Star, Azalea Garden Club, Tallahassee Orchid Society, Monticello Woman's Club and the American Legion. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was happiest when spending time with her family, friends, pets and being outdoors gardening. She had over the course of 35-40 yrs. grown an extensive collection of orchids. She loved to spoil her family with her wonderful Southern cooking. Mrs. Westbrook was a farmer in her earlier years and later a school bus driver for the Palm Beach Co. School Board She was a member of and attended the Methodist Church most of life and in recent years she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monticello. Mrs. Westbrook is survived by two sons, Buddy (Dianne) Westbrook of Monticello and Ransom Lee "RL" Westbrook of Salt Springs, Fla.; four daughters Iris W. (Larry) Trapp of Brownsburg, Ind, Savilla W. (Art) Funderburk of Hot Springs, Ark, Erlene W. (Hans) Ratz of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Diane W. (Michael) King of Monticello; two sisters, Murice B. Fugate of Williston, Fla., and Unavee B. Smith of Texas; twelve grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723-1 Mahan Center Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308-5428; Jefferson Rehabilitation & Health Center, 1780 N. Jefferson St., Monticello, FL 32344; or Jefferson County Humane Society, P. O. Box 559, Monticello, FL 32345. Special thanks are given to Dr. John MacKay, Big Bend Hospice, Jefferson Co. Senior Citizens Center, Jefferson Rehabilitation & Health Center and to her caregivers whose care and love provided so much support over the years for Ms. Savilla and her family.
