He was born Feb. 7, 1922, in New Knoxville to Theodore F. and Selma A. Wiethoff Settlage, who preceded him in death. On June 20, 1954, he married Mary Alice Figgins, who survives in New Knoxville.
Mr. Settlage was a member of New Knoxville United Methodist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 444, New Knoxville. He had worked at Jauert/Hoelscher Farm Equipment, New Knoxville, and at STAMCO, New Bremen. He retired in 1986 from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys. He was a handyman and enjoyed tinkering on engines and inventing. He loved skating in his younger days.
Survivors also include three children, Monica Navarre, of New Knoxville, Kevin (Pam) Settlage, of Potomac, Md., and Mindy Settlage, of New Knoxville; three grandchildren, Caitlin Navarre, of New Knoxville, and Justin and Adam Settlage, of Maryland; and a brother, Roger (Ruby) Settlage, of New Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Emil, Richard, Frederick and Andrew Settlage; and a sister, Martha Geise.
Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Knoxville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Denis Gaertner will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at New Knoxville United Methodist Church or to the Epiphany Ministries of Ohio.
