AZTEC, N.M. -- Nancy J. Belcher, 80, formerly of Greeneville, Tenn., and New Martinsville, W.Va., died Tuesday in Aztec.
She was born Dec. 18, 1929, in Alcoa, Tenn., and was a daughter of the late John G. and Blanche V. Lewallen of Maryville, Tenn.
The family provided the following statement: "In 1947, the day after she was 18 years old, Nancy was married in Chatsworth, Ga., to Gordon L. "Bud" Belcher, a World War II veteran, of Alcoa. They were married for 62 years. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2009.
Sons: Michael Belcher,and Stephen and Kathy Belcher, her grandchildren: January Nuanez, Tiffany Ferguson, Christopher Padgett, Geoffrey Thompson, Daisha Vaughn, Cherish Skeen, Jessica Belcher, and Kayla Belcher; five great-grandchildren: Kyla Ferguson Kara Ferguson, Luis Nuanez, Ethan Thompson, and Scott Nuanez; a brother-in-law and his wife: Gerald "Ben" and Diane Belcher and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
