She was born on Dec. 18, 1918, in Boyd, Min., the daughter of John and Olga Grandholt Aakvik.
She married Raymond Booker on Nov. 24, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minn. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2004.
She graduated from Clarkfield High School. She worked for Rock Island Railroad in Minneapolis.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She enjoyed sewing and crafts, making Norwegian foods, spending time with children and grandchildren and fishing with her late husband. She was an animal lover. She also helped support the Keokuk Humane Society, Keokuk Animal Shelter and Boys Town.
Survivors include: two daughters, Marilyn Wixom and her husband, Bill, of Keokuk, and Carilyn Booker and her husband, Greg, of Ada, Mich.; eight grandchildren, David Skow of Gulfport, Miss., Dana Davis and her husband, Rob, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Melissa Krome and her husband, Drew, of Keokuk, Julee Wixom of Burlington, Heidi Wixom of Burlington, Heidi Turner of Arlington, Texas, Jennifer Reid of Sidney, Mont., and Corey Wieland of Sidney, 10 great-grandchildren, Arielle, Anthony, Makenna, Jada, Jayce, Brianna, Kolton, Wyatt, Morgan and Kinley; and a great-great-grandchild, Drayden.
She also was preceded in death by daughter, Sharilyn Carr; parents, Olga and John Aakvik; brothers, Art, Carl, Melvin and Benny; and sisters, Judith and Evelyn; and a grandson, Ryan Wixom.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Keokuk National Cemetery, with the Rev. Dale Thomas officiating.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at DeJong's Funeral Home, Keokuk, with family meeting friends during that time.
Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Humane Society or Boys Town.
