George Michael Cascone, 67, North Kansas City, Mo., passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at North Kansas City Hospital. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 26, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1357 N.E. 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64116. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City North. Visitation will begin with the Rosary at 2 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, February 25, at St. Patrick's Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Patrick's Parish. George was born July 16, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo., to John and Jennie (Fontanello) Cascone. He was a 1959 graduate of DeLaSalle High School, where he was a cadet colonel. Following high school, he studied at Conception Seminary in Staten Island, N.Y., and Sacred Heart Seminary in Chicago. Returning to Kansas City, George taught at St. Charles Catholic School, and was vice-principal and then principal at St. Patrick's Catholic
School. George was owner of Cascone's Restaurants, and was a founding member of the Large Independent Operators of Family-Owned Restaurants group. He was named Restaurateur of the Year in 1991 and was past-president of the Kansas City Chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Association and the State of Missouri Restaurant Association. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, the Serra Club, Societa Ragusa Americana, and the Northland Chamber of Commerce. He was the 1992 Grand Marshall of the North Kansas City Snake Saturday Celebration. George was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Larry Cascone and John Richard Cascone, and his uncle Thomas "Dude" Fontanella. Survivors include his brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and VitaAnn Cascone, Jeanne Cascone, Jimmy and Sara Cascone; sister Lucille Hotchkiss; nephews and nieces Johnny and Lisa Cascone, Victor and Marianne Cascone, Jenny Ann and Joe Arena, Georgia Ann and John Sirna, Jenny Marie and David
Mosh, Johnny George and Erin Cascone, Tommy Cascone, Elaina Cascone, Savina Cascone; great-nephews and great- nieces Frankie, Joey, Tony, Joanna, Jack, Carly, Jenniann, Joseph, Jimmy, Claire, Larry, Vita Ann, Vincent, John Richard; aunt and uncle, Marie and John Messina; very special godchildren, Kyla and Skylar Carey, and many cousins and friends.
