Wellington Leader October 6, 1938

S. L. Maxwell, prominent farmer of the Lillie community, died shortly before midnight Monday, October 3. He had been in ill health since early summer, suffering from a heart ailment, and at the time of his death was in a local hospital.

Mr. Maxwell had been a resident of this county for 27 years, and during the time he had made many friends and acquaintances in all parts of the country. Those who knew him loved him for his strength of character and for his kindness and friendliness to those around him. He had been active in church and community affairs.

Born in Arkansas on January 23, 1877, Sabert Lee Maxwell was 61 years, eight months, and ten days of age at the time of his death.

Mr. Maxwell is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edna Maxwell, and these children: Mrs. Lonnie Cook of Lufkin, Henry L. Maxwell of Los Angeles, Mrs. Tom Bolton of Rockett, OK, Ray Maxwell of Los Angeles, and John Maxwell, Ernest Maxwell and Mrs. C.A. Wright of Wellington. Fourteen grandchildren also survive.

Brothers and sisters include: Mrs. N.N Nunley of Ardmore, OK, Mrs. J.A. Aker of Elk City, OK, Mrs. C.D. Henry of Sulphur, OK, Jack Maxwell of Oklahoma City, and Jim Maxwell of Yukon, OK.
