Iva Jean Shipe, 85, formerly and a long time resident of South Market Street, and recently of the Pennsfield Apartments, passed away at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
She was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Kingston, a daughter of the late Wayne and Agnes (Andress) Graybill. She was married to Dr. Brosius Shipe who preceded her in death May 24, 1970.

Iva Jean was a registered nurse and had earlier been employed at a New York City hospital.

She served as Selinsgrove tax collector for many years and had operated The Yarn Shoppe in Selinsgrove.

She was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church, Selinsgrove, served on the Selinsgrove White Christmas committee, volunteered at the Mustard Seed, and was a member of TOPS since 1986.

Iva Jean loved to knit and she loved animals.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rebekah S. and Glen Bickhart, of Middleburg; and one son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Julie Shipe, of Northumberland; two granddaughters, Meghan and husband Craig Krimbill, and Rebekah Shipe.

She was preceded in death by one son Steven, in infancy, and one brother, Wayne Graybill.
