Donnie Wayne Battenfield, 63, of Friendswood, Texas, departed this life on Sunday, February 21, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 11, 1946, in Transylvania, Louisiana to Allie and Cecil Battenfield. Donnie came into this world 3 minutes before his identical twin brother, Ronnie and they remained inseparable throughout their lives.

Donnie came to Texas with his brother Ronnie in 1968 where he began his career as an electrician at Houston Lighting and Power. He also worked for Fluor Engineering as a Designer which included a memorable assignment in Saudi Arabia. Donnie then went to work for the City of Houston where he retired as a Division Manager after 20 years of service on June 27, 2002.

Donnie is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Teresa Rosenbalm Battenfield; sons, Tyler Wayne Battenfield and Brian Scott Battenfield and wife Millie, of Friendswood, Texas; grandchildren, Claire and Jacob; sister, Sue Price of Bivins, Texas; brother, LaRoy Battenfield and wife Carol of Garland, Texas; sisters-in-law, Donna Battenfield of Friendswood, Texas and Billie Battenfield of Brandon, Mississippi; numerous beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends. He is survived by his loyal dog and constant companion, Prince (Bubba).

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Conway of Pearl, Mississippi, and most recently, his identical twin brother and best friend, Ronnie only 7 weeks ago.

Donnie was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor and friend. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles, usually in the company of his sons or his brother Ronnie. Most of all he enjoyed helping friends and strangers in their times of need. He was clever and charming, and loved to tell stories and share a good laugh. He will be remembered always as a man who loved well and was well loved.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Houston Hospice for their loving, compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the 100 Club, Inc., 1233 West Loop South, Suite 1250, Houston, Texas 77027 or the Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030.

A memorial service, under the care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, (281) 992-7200, will be held at Friendswood Community Church, 2821 W. Parkwood (F.M. 528) on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Pete Patterson officiating.
