-Private¬-Enlisted May 13, 1862, in Savannah, in Bank's Partisan Rangers. This company subsequently became Company B, 21st Battalion Georgia Cavalry. This Battalion was organized by the consolidation of White's Battalion of Partisans and the Banks Partisan Rangers, February 11, 1863. It was dissolved in February 13, 1864. and Companies A. B, C and E consolidated with the 24th Battalion Georgia Cavalry and the Hardwick Mounted Rifles to form the 7th Regiment Georgia Cavalry. Consolidated into Company E, as a 4th Sergeant. He was surrendered, April 9, 1865 at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia by General Robert E Lee.
Father of Bazil Jones Atwood, also buried here. Husband of Mary Jane JONES, also buried here. Benjamin and Mary Jane were married 17 Mar 1859 in Bulloch County GA, and had 9 children all of whom were born in Bulloch Co., GA.

Memoriam - Mr. Benjamin Atwood died July 12, 1896. His father came from Connecticut to Bulloch County, where he married Miss Mollie Turner. To them were born nine children, Annie, John, Ellen, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Margaret, Winifred, Sarah, and Mollie. Benjamin married Miss Mary Jane Jones, March 1859. Nine children survive him.
