Mary B Monjar was the second of 9 children of Major Philip Ghost and Barbara Ann Keltz.

She married Thomas E VanDyke about 1827 in Harrisville, Butler Co., PA. Between 1830 and 1852 they had 4 boys and 6 girls born in Butler Co., PA. In the order of their births they were given the names: Elizabeth, Richard Monjar, Mary Annie, Juliet Ann, Sarah, John H, Jackson M, Frances C, Joseph and Eli Hovis VanDyke.

Butler, June 19. Death at 102. Mrs. Mary M. Van Dyke, dead near Clintonville. Mrs. Mary Monjar Van dyke, at home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Ghost. On June 9, two days before 102d birthday, fell and sustained internal injuries. Had been confined to bed since then. Sight failed within last year, partially blind. Born near Murrinsville, June 11, 1807.

Married Thomas Van Dyke of Harrisville when 20. He died 30 years ago, since which time she has lived with Mrs. Ghost.... Received greetings on birthday from over 100 descendants. Mother of ten, five living, 35 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren.

Constant smoker for 75 years. "I must have my pipe".... On 100th birthday, began day by doing a churning with old-fashioned dasher churn. Memory remarkable, delighted telling grandchildren of early life in Butler county.

Surviving are children: Mrs. James Dugan, aged 84, of Harrisville; Mrs. Peter Ghost, aged 86, and Mrs. Richard Hovis, aged 80, Clintonville; Jackson Van Dyke, aged 78,and Joseph Van Dyke, aged 75, of Harrisville. Died on Saturday. Had always been in good health....
