Son of Nicholas N. Van Petten and Sarah Clement, he married Margareta Haverly of Rensselaerwyck, NY. See p.93 and 139 of the Hindmarsh "Van Patten" book. One question about his 8th child, Susannah, was could she be the "Brickwall" Susan who married Simon Bartlett VP? Now this has been answered in the affirmative. See: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=van+patten&GSfn=susan&GSbyrel=in&GSdy=1880&GSdyrel=in&GSst=36&GScnty=2024&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=44279177& .
His wife Margaret Haverly died earlier and may have been buried in Guilderland or here. It is possible that a space on the other side of the stone was left for her inscription.
