Bob Eugene Hope, 66, 1084 Mitten Drive, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at Wabash County Hospital. He was born on April 24, 1938, in Terre Haute, to Charles and Muriel (Bruce) Hope. He first married Janice Ann Dowden in 1961; she died on Dec. 7, 1974. He second married Jane Chipper on July 11, 1976, in Terre Haute. She survives.
He graduated from Wiley High School, Terre Haute, in 1956, and received his bachelor of science and master's degrees from Indiana State University. He taught and was a principal in the Manchester Community Schools, retiring in 1999. He also taught at Miami and Eastwood elementary schools in Wabash. He was a volunteer reader in the Head Start program in the Manchester elementary schools. He also volunteered for the election board and was the election mechanic. He enjoyed golfing.
Also surviving are three sons, Bruce (Stacy) Hope, Warsaw, Brent Hope, Chicago, and Ian (Jennifer) Hope, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Erika (Mark) Mungovan, Fort Wayne; four grandsons, Gavin Hope, Warsaw, Jacob Burgess, Luke Mungovan and Matthew Hope, all of Fort Wayne; three granddaughters, Lindsey Mungovan, Lauren Mungovan and Alina Hope; all of Fort Wayne; and a brother, Charles (Olive) Hope, Sweetser.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Hospital Oncology Department.
