Mr. Willard M. Clark Sr.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Willard M. Clark Sr., 90, of Delta, will be held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church today, February 23, 2010, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Pete Haynes and Reverend Ted Embry officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Willard M. Clark Sr. joined his wife, Lois in Heaven on Sunday, February 21, 2010. Mr. Clark was born April 1, 1919 in Clay County, but had lived most of his life in Randolph County near Delta, Alabama. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was a member of the choir where he played the bass guitar until a few weeks prior to his death. He was on the board of trustees and was instrumental, along with others, in establishing a trust fund for the eventual perpetual care of the graves in the cemetery. He was a World War II veteran, a machinist and worked for Lee Brothers Brass Foundry in Anniston for more than 35 years. He is survived by a daughter, Carole Johnson and husband, Doug, of Delta; three sons, Willard M. Clark Jr. (Buddy) and wife, Cindy, of Chulafinnee, Steve Clark, of Delta and Paul Clark, of Arab; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grand-children; a sister, Frances Reeves and husband, Elton, of Barfield; two sisters-in-law, Alene Clark and Avis Brown, both of Anniston and a brother-in-law, Leon Luker and wife, Rudean, of Heflin. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Lois Luker Clark, his parents, Arthur Clark and Bessie Ann Rogers Clark, a daughter, Annette, a grandson, Bradley, four brothers and many other loved ones and friends with whom he is now reunited. He was much loved and will be greatly missed. Active pallbearers will be Greg Clark, Rodney Clark, Stephen Johnson, Christopher Clark, Kevin Clark and Michael Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Clarke and Jimmy Clarke. His family will receive friends and relatives at Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010, and until 1 prior to service time.
