The 1860 Federal Census (dated 27 Jun 1860) listed Sarah as their one year old daughter. The family lived in Calhoun County, Alabama. By 1870, the census records show that 11 year old Lizzie was a student. In 1871 her father died. Her mother died in 1873. Sometime after this, several members of the Meharg family relocated to Texas.
On 28 Jun 1877 Sarah was married to John W Morgan in Ellis County, Texas. They were the parents of one child, Hosea L (1879-1955). The 1880 Federal Census (dated 22 Jun 1880) show John (27), Sarah (22) and Hosea L (9 months) residing in Precinct 4 of Ellis County, Texas.
