Early Wednesday night the entire community was shocked and grieved to hear of the very sudden death of Mrs. J. L. (Susan Jeter) Brown, one of the city's most estimable residents.
The Browns had motored to the municipal swimming pool to watch the water sports. Soon after arriving at the pool Mrs. Brown suffered an attack of acute indigestion and death came almost instantly.
The deceased was a native of Georgia, and had resided with her family here for the past several years. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, and was held in the love and esteem of many friends.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Nell, Lillian and Mary Brown, and two sons, Leo and Alton, and also by her father and two sisters, who reside in Cordele, Ga.
This morning the body was taken to Cordele, Ga., the old family home, where interment will be made, the funeral services being in charge of the Eastern Stars, of which she had long been a popular member.
The sincere sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family in their hour of unexpected sorrow. (Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 10 Jul 1925.)
