Born in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Simeon and Alpha Williams Ayers.
He was U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of Harvest Christian Church.
Surviving are widow; daughter, Glenda A. Irvin of Demorest; son John B. Ayers of Clarkesville; sisters, Lora Kiss of Clarkesville, Mary Damianos of Merritt Island, Fla.; four grandchildren.
Burial in Harvest Christian Church cemetery.
