ROCHESTER — J. Michael (Mike) Alcorn, 61, of Rochester passed away on Tuesday, February 23 after a long battle with cancer, at home with his family around him.

Mike was born on June 11, 1948, in Minneapolis to Dr. William and Lois (Bonnie) Alcorn. When he was one year of age the family moved to Wabasso, Minn. He attended Wabasso High School where he participated in music, baseball and football graduating in 1966. He also participated in the local 4-H program. Mike did his x-ray training at HCMC.

Mike met his bride of 35 years, Jeaneen, working at North Memorial Hospital as a X-ray technician and they married on February 8, 1975 in Roseville, Minn. They made their home in Rochester their entire married life. Mike worked at Mayo Clinic in several different positions in the radiology department for more than 35 years, his last position was in the MRI section. Mike also served on the admissions board at the Mayo Clinic Radiography School.

Mike and Jeaneen enjoyed volunteering with Special Olympics and Dorothy Day House. Mike enjoyed music, fishing, woodworking, and especially the activities of his children. He was a member of the Rochester Male Chorus as well as the church choir and Civic Music. He thoroughly enjoyed his fishing trips with his good friends and family, being at his lake cabin, and spending time with his best friend Jeaneen .

Mike is survived by his wife, Jeaneen of Rochester; two daughters, Annika (Shawn) Curren of Charlotte, N.C. and Krista Alcorn of Rochester; one son, James "Bud" (Meghan) Alcorn of Shakopee; one granddaughter, Emma Curren; two sisters, Judy (Steve) Kerkhoff, Susan (Ken) Hubbard; two brothers, Dr. Patrick (Brenda) Alcorn and Bob (Glenda) Alcorn; ten nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26 at 11 A.M. at Good Shephard Lutheran Church, 559 20th Street SW, Rochester, MN 55902, with the Rev. Karen Pahl officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th Street SE, Rochester, MN 55904.

The family is requesting that donations be made to one of the following charities:
