Shortly after our friend Owen McAloon died, Jerry Kass wrote the following poem in his honor:
"I know breakfast will never be the same
"Without Joseph Owen McAloon's frame.
"McDonald's the place we'd all head
"And watch as his jelly he'd carefully spread.
"Then he'd read his 'calendar' jokes
"And brighten the day for us old folks.
"But when it was not Margaret's day
"There'd be other places for us to stray.
"Tho to be serious and stop all this --
"He was a wonderful guy, whom we'll all miss."
