Her obituary says 'Anna Marie Hermann died at 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 28, 1896 at her residence 300 Sycamore Street age 81 years, 9 months, 17 days. Funeral services at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 8:30 Thursday morning.

Mary was the wife of Jacob Herman Sr a cabinet maker. They were the parents of 9 children.

Mary a skilled confectioner taught her children how to make delicious treats.
Her oldest son Heinrich "Henry" Herman used that knowledge to begin his own candy buisness in Evansville in 1860.
