Elvin Ernest (Boots) Negley, 49, 405 Blaine St., North Western Railway engineer, died of a heart attack about 5 p.m. Tuesday at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Hillview Chapel by the Rev. R.L. Jobman, St. John's Lutheran pastor. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The body will lie in state from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hillview Chapel. Mr. Negley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Negley, was born July 22, 1910 at Hooper, and had lived in Norfolk for 46 years. He started working for the North Western as a fireman Aug. 13, 1943, and was promoted to locomotive engineer Aug. 20, 1947. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran. He was married Oct. 13, 1928, at Madison to Miss Ruth Ferris, daughter of William Ferris of Norfolk. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene Swanson, Mrs. Patsy Nelson and Mary Jean Negley, two grandchildren; one brother, Byron and his step-father, Bert Cook, all of Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Clyde.
