Wilfred's obituary was published in the McPherson Daily Republican, Tuesday, June 5, 1923, page 4, column 4.

Wilfred was the son of George Henry Thompson and Jeanette Gibson Aitken.

On February 28, 1917, he married Grace Belle Walker in McPherson County, Kansas. Wilfred and Grace had the following children: George Henry and Janette May.

According to his obituary, Wilfred "departed this lfe at the hospital at McPherson, Kansas." He is noted as having come to the Roxbury, Kansas area with his mother at the age of 8. (Note: from Sparta, Illinois, moved with his mother and sisters to live with his uncle, James Aitken, after the untimely death of his father.)

Also, according to his obituary, at the age of 11 he accepted Christ and united with the Presbyterian Church at Roxbury. His obituary states that "shortly before he passed away, he expressed his belief in Jesus as his Savior and that his soul was at peace with God. He was a loving husband and father and a kind brother."

In addition to a wife and two children his survivors include: two sisters, Mrs. Velma Karber (Dailey) of Gypsum and Mrs. Nellie Opal Boyd of Salina, besides a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church, Roxbury, and were conducted by the pastor, W.J. Poole. Burial is noted as being in the Roxbury Cemetery (now known as Valley View Cemetery).

Wilfred is my grandfather. He was a farmer and talented musician with beautiful red hair. He died of heart failure at the age of 34 years.
