He was born on May 1, 1929, in Stanley and was a son of the late Conrad Dewey and Thelma Ruth Painter Petefish.
Mr. Petegish was a production worker for Avtex for more than 30 years.
On Jan 11, 1949, he married the former Mildred Lucille Bear, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Robert C. Petefish of Broadway and Gary A. Petefish of Luray; three daughters, Sharyn K. Cassel of Centreville, Deborah Sue Lucas of Stanley and Theresa G. Posey of Luray;
three brothers, Douglas Bruce Petefish of Stanley, Bobby Lee Petefish of Luray and Melvin E. Petefish of Girard, Ohio;
nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ennis Wayne 'Pint' Petefish.
Burial in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray.
