He was born in Lexington, Va., July 20, 1920 to the late Claude W. Crist and Clara Cupp Crist. He was employed as a Soil Conservationist with the Dept. of Agriculture and was an Army veteran.
Mr. Crist was a member of the Luray Lions Club for over 51 years and a Mason with Lafayett Lodge for 50 years, as well as Corp. of Cadets-VPI, and a 1944 graduate of Va. Tech.
He was married to Anne Belle Finley Crist on September 23, 1943. He was preceded in death by a daughter and two sisters.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, John David Crist, Jr., Blacksburg, Daniel Greenlee Crist, Harrisonburg, Robert Lewis Crist, Charlottesville; one daughter, Jeanne Crist Kibler, Stanardsville; 11 grandsons; and a brother, Claude W. Crist, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bradley Funeral Home Chapel in Luray, Va., with the Rev. David W. Lord officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Bradley Funeral Home Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Luray United Methodist Church or the Luray Rescue Squad.
