Oscar Thomas, 92,
of Oneida, passed away Sunday morning, February 2, 1986, at the Scott County Hospital after a brief illness. The son of the late William Harrison and Martha Marcum Thomas, he was a retired school teacher, serving more than over forty years with the Oneida School System. Mr. Thomas was a U. S. Army veteran of World War I, and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Boshears Thomas; his second wife, Maye Keeton Thomas; a son, O. H. Thomas; a daughter, Martha Virginia Thomas; five sisters: Maude Carson, Lily Terry, Bertha Terry, Lona Daugherty, and Flora Phillips; and three brothers: Walter Thomas, Reason Thomas, and Arthur Thomas. Mr. Thomas is survived by three sons: Charles Allen Thomas and Bill Ed Thomas, both of Oneida, and Robert Harold Thomas of Cincinnati, O.; one daughter, Mary Ann Brewster of Oneida; six grandchildren: Richard, Kevin, and Michael Thomas, all of Cincinnati, O., Rhonda Brewster of Oneida, Mary Ethel Marcum of Beeville, Tex., and Lisa Van Dyke of Cincinnati, O.; two brothers: John Marion Thomas and Tolbert Thomas, both of Oneida; two sisters: Orlena West and Frona Watters, both of Oneida; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, in the chapel of the Scott County Funeral Home, with Rev. Phillip Kazee officiating. Special music was provided by Allen Martin, John Damron, Joyce Chitwood, Dorothy Harris, and Lana Ellis. Burial was in the Carson Memorial Park. Pallbearers were: Jerry Terry, Ray Thomas, Roy Thomas, Dennis Terry, Clifton Terry, and Gayson Thomas. Scott County Funeral Home in Oneida was in charge of arrangements.
