Well Known Couple Celebrate Event with Their Five Sons and Family

In celebration of their golden wedding anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Oscar H. Bush were honored guests
Sunday at a family gathering at the farm of one of their five sons, J. T. Bush. five miles north of St.
Louis.

Mr. and Mrs. Bush were married at Howell, Michigan, on August 24, 1890. They came to St. Louis
and started their home on the same farm where they now reside. In the early nineties what is now their
well improved farm was for the greater part virgin timber. Gradually by hard work they cleared the
land and built for themselves the fine farm home they now enjoy. They have seen many changes in
the country.

When they were married Mr. Bush was a fireman on the Lake Shore, Michigan Southern, now the
New York Central, and Mrs. Bush ‘was a school teacher. They both keep well informed and take an
active interest in the affairs of the day. They have withstood the hardships of pioneer life and are
hale and hearty. Mr. Bush was 80 years old on Monday, August 26. Mrs. Bush was 74 on August 4.

Mr. Bush does not work his farm but does plant and care for a good sized garden and get much enjoy ment in its care. Mr. and Mrs. Bush are the parents of five sons and all were present for the anniversary dinner Sunday. The dinner was a bounteous feast and included several lovely cakes, one decorated in gold and white, which was the gift of their nephew, Hugh Bush.

Visiting was enjoyed by the group of 21 during the afternoon and early evening. The honored couple received many anniversary gifts also cards and congratulations from friends. Beside the bride and groom of fifty years years ago there were present. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bush, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Bush the hosts; and their two sons, Russell ane Alfred, of rural St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bush and nephew of Clio; Mr and Mrs. Harry Bush and four children of Merrill; and Mr. and Mrs. Claire Bush of Flint, and Hugh Bush of St. Louis

Visiting was enjoyed by the group of 21 during the afternoon and early evening. The honored couple received many anniversary gifts also cards and congratulations from friends.
