Fountain City, Wis. - August F. Wendland, 91, of Fountain City and formerly of La Crosse, Wis., and Cochrane, Wis., died Thursday (Sept. 29, 1994) at St. Michael's Lutheran Home, Fountain City.

He was born Aug. 18, 1903, in the town of Nelson, Wis., to William and Wilhelmina (Bruhn) Wendland.

He married Lila Hermann of Cochrane. She is a resident of St. Michael's Lutheran Home.

August grew up on the home farm in Nelson. He then went into automobile repair work for A. H. Rohrer in Cochrane. Later he moved to La Crosse, where he owned and operated an auto repair shop specializing in carburetors and generators.

Survivors include his wife, Lila; three sisters, Olga Pickering, West Salem, Wis., and Wilma Duellman and Viola (Ralph) Grob, both of Alma, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at J. S. Wozney Funeral Chapel in Cochrane, with the Rev. Frank Kuhlman officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo City Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.

Pallbearers will be Larry and Merlin Wendland, Alton and Burdell Herold and Calvin and David Pickering.
