James Ashforth died last Friday in Pioneerville of pneumonia. Mr. Ashforth arrived there from Boise a week ago last thurs. The following evening he walked about 4 miles altogether. That evening he complained of chiliness and the next day took pneumonia on both lungs. shortly after he took sick, Mr. Ashforth feeling sure that he would not recover, told his friends where he wished to be buried...the spot is near Pioneerville.
Jo Crandall in researching Mr. Ashforth, believes he was buried on his claims on Ashforth Bar about 2 miles above Pioneerville. He had a cabin there. We have not located a gravesite but feel this is where he wanted to be buried.
