He was the son of Hampton G. Hill and Rachel Parris Hill.
He married first Mary Marintha "Rintha" Gilliam on 21 Sep 1882. The couple had six children. She died shortly after the birth of her last child in 1894. Her grave site has not yet been located.
He married second Millie Ann Dalton, daughter of Toliver "Zeb" Dalton and Nancy Caroline Case Dalton, on 7 Aug 1894. The couple had two children. She died some time after the birth of her last child in 1900 and prior to Dec. 1901. Her grave site has not been located.
He married third Cordelia "Delia" Ann Dalton on 11 Dec 1901. The couple had seven children.
