I have found Pearl on the 1900 Census, which shows her to have been born in 1895. Family stories tell of her and her sisters always claiming to be younger than they actually were. They didn't even keep their stories consistent and thus often confused their birth order. Surely at age 5 in 1900 her mother did not lie about her age, especially since her father died in 1900. I think no one was willing to risk her ire even from the great beyond to correct things on her tombstone.
