Clem died February 19, 2010 at his residence. A native and lifelong Jasper County resident, he was a long time member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Clem's father donated the land for Ebenezer Cemetery where Clem served as its sexton for many years. A long time heavy equipment operator, he was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 450 out of Nederland, Texas. He retired after helping construct Lake Sam Rayburn. An avid hunter, he also enjoyed farming on his land in the Ebenezer Community, especially riding his tractor.
Survivors include his daughter Charlotte Lowe and husband John of Jasper, three grandchildren, Tammy, Dallas and Samantha, one great-grandchild. He is also survived by three nephews, one niece and a host of other family and friends.
Clem was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Norma Jean.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.
