CEDAR CITY - Ella Jones Bettridge, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away June 27, 2005 at the age of 98. Born to Samuel Bell and Sara Olevia Clark Jones on October 19, 1906 in Cedar City, Utah. Ella's mother, Sara Olevia Clark Jones, passed away at the birth of the twin girls Ella and Olevia. Ella was raised and cared for by her Aunt Violet Ann and Conroy (Roy) Wood. She married Joseph Philemon Bettridge on July 26, 1927 and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 3, 1928. Joe and Ella lived many years in Caliente, Nevada where Joe worked for the railroad. In 1946 they moved back to Cedar City and made it their permanent home on 300 west. Ella was restricted to her home most of her adult life due to poor health.

She loved to serve her family and adored her five grandchildren, reading to them whenever they were visiting with her. She supported her husband in his numerous church callings. Ella was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Primary and Sunday School Organizations where she enjoyed being with the children. Ella was an avid reader and an excellent speller. She spent many hours playing the piano by ear and listening to classical music. She loved the social life of being with her many friends. Dancing was her favorite thing to do.

The beauty and serenity of the outdoors and being in the mountains was very special to her. She spent many summers living at Woods Ranch in Cedar Canyon with her family.

Ella is survived by her son, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to everyone at Kolob Care and Rehabilitation Center in St. George for their TLC and their help in caring for Ella these past two years.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 12:00 noon in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences may be sent through our website at www.sum family.com.
